What is Giving Tuesday?

You’ve probably heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but what about GivingTuesday? If you’re not familiar with it, GivingTuesday (on December 3 this year) is a global movement whose goal is to unleash “the power of radical generosity.” It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: after a few days of consumerism and people buying things, what if the world focused on GIVING instead? GivingTuesday has evolved from making donations to charities on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to encouraging more people to do good in the world year-round!  We encourage you to join the movement and give, whether it’s some of your time, a donation, or the power of your voice.

At Exodus Family Ministries, we know there are many worthy causes to support because we work with many of them and get to see the great work they do. We also strive to make a difference in this community and encourage you to join us as we work to address food, clothing, and housing insecurities in our area. We are moved to serve because of our faith, so we love to share the good news about Jesus with others, as well.

We run trauma-informed, evidence-based programs focused on helping those who need a special hand up in life – whether that be food, clothing, warming supplies, or prayers. We are here to support and care for our neighbors in Southwest Louisville.

If you plan on giving on GivingTuesday, please consider supporting Exodus. Your gift helps us provide a food box to a senior or family who is struggling with food insecurities; a new pair of shoes or pants for a child who has outgrown their current outfits and whose parents cannot afford to buy replacements; a friendly face and conversation for a senior who does not have family or friends to look in on them at their home or nursing facility; a nice shower and warm meal for a person who has lost hope and is living on the streets.

Help us keep the generous spirit of GivingTuesday alive all year!
